Downshifting – How to Win the Rat Race Without Even Joining It

Feeling over-stressed about how fast the current world is going? Don’t see the point in working two jobs and taking extra hours. Or maybe you are simply fed up with the imposed corporate culture of success and competition?

Well, it turns out you are not alone. There is a growing number of people who feel the same way. And they want to stop that never-ending rat race. They call themselves downshifters.

What is downshifting? The concept evolves around the idea of simple living. It’s about finding live balance, and more life in life. Some people take it to an extreme level and run away from economic materialism. Instead of buying new stuff, they spend time in direct contact with nature, on a beach or in the mountains, often looking like castaways.

The transformation is very personal so we can’t for certain say what downshifting would mean to you. It may be finding time for your loved ones. A voyage you keep on planning or maybe just a walk in a park during the day you always spend at the office.

As a movement, it has a very big impact on societies. We see it in changes over the last few years in how people want to engage in non-work-related activities as downshifting cultivates a lot higher levels of civic engagement and social integration.

There is more – something COVID in a way forced seems like a good way towards achieving life-work balance. We started working from home with much more flexible work hours. We commute less so there is a change in our lives and our carbon footprint. That’s another positive impact on our lifestyle of getting it easier.

Downshifting may have a very good impact on your health. Stress and overworking is something our body can’t take for too long so why not take away that pressure and have more life to yourself.

So how do you feel about this movement? What about getting only the best part of it?

Well, we can’t say that you must leave the modern world and go to Bali or any other far place on our planet (but we don’t say that you shouldn’t aim for that either). We want you to have more free time for yourself. Let go of your financial problems by letting your money work for you. As a downshifter, you will still need to get income. And a nice way of getting passive income is an investment.

We know at SimpleFX that investing can be hard. You need to know a lot of useless and often hidden things about corporations found on typical markets while investing in crypto lets you pass the hard stuff and enjoy the best of what the market has to offer.
